Young Australian of The Year 2020: Ash Barty
The Australian of the Year Awards celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to their community. In 2020, the Young Australian of The Year title was awarded to Ash Barty, a talented tennis player who has won 15 career singles titles, including three at Grand Slam tournaments. She also held the number one spot in the women's tennis world rankings for 114 consecutive weeks.
This video played at the award ceremony once it was announced that she had been nominated for the title. I illustrated the background scenes, and we were two animators working on the animation.

We wanted to create a fun, dynamic and exciting video to tell Ash's story. The style took inspiration from the world of comics and manga. We used big typography, halftone patterns and anime speed lines to add energy to the action scenes.
